How to find a lawyer

Use InstaLaw to search and compare attorneys in the United States.

1. Search the directory

Enter a practice area, lawyer’s name, city, or state. Smart search also looks for lawyers on the web and creates profiles with the sourced details it finds. Profiles show their sources and any information that is still unknown.

2. Compare lawyers

Read profiles, check fees and experience, and save lawyers for later. You can compare up to three profiles at a time.

3. Contact a lawyer

When a lawyer accepts inquiries, sign in and send a short message through their profile. Read replies in your InstaLaw inbox. Otherwise, use the contact details shown on the profile.

Know what you’re comparing

Profiles include public registration records and information submitted by attorneys. Check each profile’s sources and update dates. Unclaimed profiles may have limited details, and missing fees or practice areas are shown as unknown.

Confirm current licensing with the relevant bar or licensing authority. A listing or approved profile claim is not an endorsement. Sending an inquiry does not guarantee a response or create an attorney-client relationship.
